CrowonBranch2

I am taking down the Halloween/Samhain decorations, enjoying being outside.  The night before, the weather was beautiful for lighting a candle, some incense, listening to the wind whisper through the trees while pulling faery/fairy cards for the coming year. I asked out loud, which cards should I use and I heard, “Faery.” When I do readings, I have options of faery, angels, Celtic tree cards or a few others I like and have used for a long time.

Sitting out on our new porch drinking coffee, a large crow decided to sit on a branch close by and go on and on about something. I asked him if he had something to say to me or a message. I decided to look up his medicine lore and even while sitting here doing that, he came back several times and seemed to be screaming at me to listen to him! I tried to get a picture of him, but each time he would fly away. Hmmm. I am now very curious of his message. I have heard that many believe Crow is an omen of death or ill health. I tend to believe that old folklore seemed to always think black animals were bad, negative or signified death or illness. For me, I do not believe that “black” means that at all, no more than white or any other color. I do think black depicts darkness which stirs mystery, the unknown, things not seen and so on, so perhaps that’s why people generalize black animals, clothing, etc as “of the darkness” and not good or evil.

I believe Crow is the bringer of magic and curiosity, since they themselves are very curious. They steal items they like and build a home with them or stash them where they go often. For Crow to show up for me today makes sense, because I am working to reinvent myself a bit and do more magical things in my life. My body; my health, has kept me from too many things I love to do. I did not even come outside last year into nature, under the trees and do my Celtic New Year ending intentions; burning my list and asking for guidance. This is something I have done for a long time and to feel physically too ill to do it, made me sad. Perhaps Crow is telling me it is time. Time to get back to the old ways I love so much and practice them more in my daily life. I have felt the lack of balance in my life for some time and I have let it bother me too much. I am the only one that can make the decision to change my life and not allow what has been getting in my way, causing me to not live the life I want and need. For me, last night and today are very important, marking a new beginning, one I desire greatly. Just now, as I write this, a big wind came and it’s blowing leaves everywhere! That’s a great sign for me to listen and follow the winds of change! I have even been emotional lately, when I think of the seasons of our lives and when I look out at the lovely trees all around where I live. I thrive on nature and wildlife. I can feel the changes occurring in me, all stirred up and wanting to come busting out. I will not tell you all the things happening in my life now or recently that keep me from doing what I want to do, but as I tell others, they are not excuses they just are the way it is for now, and life is something we work through, not around. We must have patience with ourselves, loving ourselves when we need love, especially when we feel others do not understand or when everyone is working on themselves and their own path, we just have to do the best we can and keep moving forward.

For me, I am committing to doing more of what I love and enjoy. Doing what helps me heal and makes me feel good. I am making more jewelry for my online stores, writing more, spending more time at home and I note that our home is being remodeled so that is something that makes me happier. I do not hold in my feelings, at my age, but I do my best to be kind and loving. I try not to use the excuse of physical pain and I pray and ask for guidance on what to do next to help my healing come sooner than later, due to a huge amount of pain. I have not yet met or found the doctors or the treatment that is right for me, so I am looking forward to this all happening, soon. Crow just might be telling me to hang in there, keep faith and keep believing, it is all being worked on, even when I cannot always see it and when I have days when I just want to stay in bed; I have things to do!

Here is the part of Crow’s Medicine I found to resonate most with me:

(You can read more at the link I shared at the bottom of the page.)

Crow is also the guardian of ceremonial magic and healing. In any healing circle, Crow is present. Crow guides the magic of healing and the change in consciousness that will bring about a new reality and dispel “dis-ease” or illness. You can rest assure when ever crows are around, magic is near by and you are about to experience a change in consciousness. Crow can give you the courage to enter the darkness of the void, which is the home of all that is not yet in form.
If you have a crow as a totem, you need to be willing to walk your talk and speak your truth. You must put aside your fear of being a voice in the wilderness and “caw” the shots as you see them. Crow is an omen of change. If he keeps appearing to you he may be telling you that you have a powerful voice when addressing issues that you do not quite understand or feel that they are out of balance.
Crows are the bringer of messages from the spirit world, and is thought to dwell beyond the realm of time and space.
When you meet crow, he could be telling you that there will be changes in your life and that possibly you should step by the usual way you view reality and look into the inner realms …walk your talk… be prepared to let go of your old thinking and embrace a new way of viewing yourself and the world.

Autumn02

Autumn is very magical to me. I love the frosty mornings and the mystical nights. I love all the seasons, but Autumn is my favorite. The trees turn beautiful colors and their leaves fall gently to the ground making a crunchy carpet. Everywhere I look I see changes. The air is cooler and similar to every autumn I have experienced. The wind and rain come, causing the leaves to fall faster and do all sorts of dances and magical swirls. I love how the wind makes the tops of the trees sway back and forth, like a dance, lulling them to sleep. I sweep and rake leaves from the porch, cut back the roses, collect seeds and bring plants in that spend all summer out in the warmth and come in to keep from freezing in the winter. I watch for signs and pay attention to the forecasts for frost and low temperatures. I find myself rummaging for warmer clothes and boots instead of sandals. My gardens are finished producing and I feel so blessed for all they gave for us to eat and enjoy. I seek ways to keep the dogs out of them so the soil can rest all winter long; composting for the next growing season. I dry some of the herbs and others will continue to grow indoors for me and my family to enjoy. I decorate the front porch with some of my favorites; a scarecrow, jack-o-lanterns and brooms, welcoming guest for the harvest. There are few things I enjoy more than sitting out on the front porch swing, listening to the birds, the wind and feeling the wonderful energy of autumn.

Tonight is Halloween night, or Samhain, as some call it. Samhain is a Gaelic or Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the “darker half” of the year; the time when Mother Earth sleeps and rests. The days are shorter and darker, ending the growing season, bringing in the time of harvest and then winter. November first is the Western Christian holiday of All Saint’s Day, also called All Hallows or Hallowmas, followed by All Souls’ Day on November second. Both days are considered Holy and are observed all over the world in different ways. Within the days of Halloween and All Soul’s day, I will sit outside, light a candle and burn my yearly “negatives” list. It’s a list of things I am letting go of and changing in positive ways. When I burn the list, I ask the wind to carry the ashes and energy up and out to the Universe. I believe and affirm in new beginnings and let go of what I don’t want and don’t need in my life. I know the veil is thin at this time and it is a good time to speak to those who have passed on to the other side and feel peace. Often, this is a time I will receive messages and “glimpses” of things to come, ideas, inspiration and perhaps even a message from an old soul connection, the angels or spirit. I am open to messages and dreams at this time even more than usual because the energy is so wonderful!

I hope you’re enjoying the season of Autumn and are spending time outside with nature. I’m sending good wishes for a wonderful Halloween, Samhain and All Saints day! Remember to take some time to set a place at the table or light a candle in honor of loved ones passed and wish them well.

Blessings and light,

Mystiblu~Fran

SNAKE~ Awakening dormant energies and unlocking hidden knowledge, Snake brings spiritual transformation and heals through change. From “Animals Teachings,” by Dawn Brunke.

Several weeks ago…

I woke in the morning from a dream that had snakes in it. When I was going out the door that day to Water/Physical Therapy, I said out loud to the Universe, “Ok, I know I’m going to have a snake come to me with a message soon; I welcome it.” I know snake lore, medicine and magic tells us of change, shedding our skins, health and healing, transformations and earth energy. I’ve been going through a lot of physical changes for the last couple of years, so change is welcome in many areas. Just this year I’ve been working hard to heal my body and release pain.

Maybe I didn’t welcome it as well as I could have, because while sitting in my living room on the couch last week, talking on the phone, I saw something under my dining room chair. We have light oak wood floors and I thought it was a string or thread. I watched it and finally saw it move! I said out loud, “not again!” At least this time it was a tiny one, (a Ringneck Snake) but I still didn’t want it in my house! I grabbed a handicap gripper tool, that helps pick up things, and tried to get the snake with that. The snake was very small, a baby I figured, but I didn’t know what kind. (at the time) I heard on a television show that some newly hatched poisonous snakes can be more potent than adults snakes, so I wanted to be careful, plus, I didn’t want to hurt it. I didn’t get a picture of it because I was home alone and I just wanted it out of the house! Once before, I had a Black Racer Snake show up in my bedroom coming from the window sill onto my night stand. Another minute and it would have been on my bed and I was laying in it! I have no idea how it got into our house but I was so afraid I ran and shut the door! I was on the phone that time too, lol, with the same person, my husband! Luckily the snake was moving slower because we had the air conditioning on. When he got home we caught it and tossed it out the window where it quickly slithered away to its home. I didn’t sleep in our bedroom for at least a week! *smile*

I’ve had snake come to me several times in the last ten or so years and probably most of my life in one way or another.  Each time, in dreams first, then in person. I felt strongly these were always messages for me. I sought information to learn what snakes message was. Before snake, sister spider came too. I’ve had many insects and animals come to me with messages and insight on what path to take or what to pay attention to.

For now, I know I’m going through some big transformations inside and out. Perhaps I’m shedding my old skin and getting a newer, tougher one. Heaven knows, these days I need a tougher skin to deal with so much negative energy. I need to have a good shield of love, while protecting my heart, mind and spirit from all the ignorance flying around these days. So many people are not using common sense, love and common decency and I’m doing my best to refrain from falling into the pit of despair and anger while still expressing myself and sharing messages I’m being given from SpiritGod and higher wisdom through many means all around me. So yes, I welcome messages from my animal spirit helpers, guides, angels and more.

This is a webpage with pictures of the snake that came in the house, this time. http://srelherp.uga.edu/snakes/diapun.htm~

A Moment with Mysti~ January 26, 2014

I’m a home-body. I like being home. I tell myself often, that’s ok. Everyone has a purpose and not all of us were meant to travel all over the world with our messages or be in front of huge crowds. Now and then, I wonder why I am the way I am. I don’t single out my imperfections and name them. I take the whole package and know everything is connected. Through pain and joy, I’ve learned so much and I love to learn and welcome it. I also know life isn’t always smooth sailing, we will have ups and downs, but when we’re positive, help others, give unselfishly and be the light we’re here to be, we will find peace. Striving to be love is how we invite love and peace into our lives.

Today I baked cranberry orange pecan bread while taking pictures of deer just past our backyard fence. I enjoyed spending the day with some of the guys in my life, my husband, son and grandson and of course our dogs and birds. I did some laundry, computer work and hey, the cold temperatures outside don’t bother me as long as I’m home. *smile*

Peace and love, Fran~Mysti

Everything in life is interconnected. Each season turns into the next, no matter what we do with our time. We’re drawn to nature and spiritual ideals for a reason. We are part of everything and everything is a part of us. It’s very natural for us to desire natural things.

More and more, we’re waking up and feeling the pull of our soul back to what we know. Have you ever felt like you’ve done something before, been to a place or known someone before, even though you just met them? Some call this deja vu; I call it remembering our soul’s journey. Experiences, places and people, leave imprints of energy.

When we begin to awaken and come to know our true selves, our inner selves, our true heart and soul, we remember. When we meet people and we feel a familiarity with them, often they’re part of our soul family. I believe the term, “Soul Family” refers to more than “blood relatives,” but those we were very close to, had lifetimes with, were involved with and were best of friends; those we have a spiritual/soul connection with. I have experienced this many times in my life and have come to find, we always meet people for a reason; whether to finish something we started in another life, for deep love or perhaps karmic reasons. It took me a long time to learn that this includes people we may not like or get a long with well too. All people in our lives come and go for a reason or lesson, for us or them perhaps. Again, it’s very natural for us to be drawn to people, places or things as we allow ourselves to open up to who we are and have been forever. Our soul has traveled many journeys and some have just begun to remember.

I can recall when I was a child, having memories that would come to me in visions. I didn’t understand them and had no one in my life to help me to figure out what was happening to me. I also began having dreams about past lives and things that had happened to me. I asked questions, but my family was not open to any of this. They felt it was evil or wrong and told me to stop it. I didn’t dare tell them I talked to spirit guides and angels and also talked to trees and animals! Talking is one thing, but “knowing and hearing” them back, is another!

I’ve learned many lessons in this lifetime and look forward to many more. Not all have been easy, fun or something I chose, but somehow, we do choose many of the experiences we will have in each lifetime. We have a “blueprint” we create before we’re born, things we agree on to happen at certain times to help us learn and grow. I do believe “life blueprints” can be changed slightly, just as any blue print. Even when we have “detours” in our blue prints, they always end up being just what we needed to learn a valuable lesson for life.

As we learn and begin to notice a difference in our lives, we begin to let go of extra baggage and heal from old wounds. We find peace within, even when the world is not always so peaceful. Learning to forgive, to let go; to not always be in control but allow things to flow, is a sign we’ve grown and are becoming wiser. This doesn’t always happen over night, but can take patience and persistence, learning to love ourselves and others in much deeper ways.

Our soul’s journey can take us to fantastic and magical places in different levels of our consciousness and to places we may not have believed possible. I have come to believe anything is possible! Our souls are interestingly complex, with many layers and most have hardly touched the surface, much less, understanding the soul completely. The soul is infinite, traveling and learning forever.~

Here I am again, playing catch up from September here in October. Time zips by and I sometimes feel like I’m in a whirlwind! That’s usually when I’m reminded, somehow, to find ways to slow down. have fun, and get more rest and relaxation. I welcome Autumn!

In September and October, I’ve been involved with fundraisers, football games, sick pets, planning for my autumn garden, preparing for colder nights, planning meals, musical events, meetings, picnics, dinners and the list goes on and on. I began to wonder, “When do I get time for ME!?” I’m not being selfish, I’m being mindful of the amount of time I’ve been spending doing the things “I” love and the things “I need” to be doing. I want time to savor the beautiful autumn days, taking pictures of the mountains, exchanging summer clothes for winter clothes in storage, making jewelry and spending more time out in nature listening and watching for her messages.

In September, fox came to me at my house in the woods. I’m always a little startled by their calls to each other, because it sounds odd and a little un-nerving when you first hear it. I’m beginning to get used to it the more I hear it. Fox is one of my favorites and I consider them one of my closer totems along with wolf, which are in the same family. Fox is the protector of the family unit, user of camouflage, being able to blend into the background and master of shape shifting. Fox tells you to be invisible and pay attention to what’s going on when no one sees you are watching.  The fox has a long history of magic and supernatural powers. They are often most visible at times of dawn and dusk, the “between time,” when the magical world and the world we live in intersect. It lives at the edges of the forests and open land, the border areas. Because it’s an animal of the “between times and places” it can be a guide to enter the Faerie Realm. I love this message they had for me, which has proven to be very true. When we take time to be quiet, watch and listen, it’s amazing what we learn and what comes to us!

Another messenger has been the cat. We live in the mountains and there are cats everywhere! My family hasn’t had cats for years because we have several dogs and they were not raised with cats.  We finally broke down and started feeding a litter of kittens that made their new home under our lower deck on the front of our house. When the nights were warmer, we would sit on the upper porch swing and talk, enjoying the quiet and with each day and night they would get closer and closer to us. They then began sleeping on the soft porch swing and now we can touch them, a little, but they are still cautious, like the fox, watching, paying attention to us too.  Cats are about independence, magic and mystery. Watching cats around us can help us to understand them better and see their strongest traits. Cats are very curious, playful, clever, and they hold much magic and healing within them. Cats have been familiars for people in stories and folklore from all around the world for centuries and in many traditions are associated with childbirth and family. Whenever cats become predominant in our lives, look for magic and mystery to come alive.

Just a few days ago, right before the New Moon, I was out on the front porch putting up harvest decorations and I noticed another spider’s web and something drew me to look closer. It was under the eave of the porch and a bit dark, so I had to look closely to see the spider, which looked like a Black Widow. We have hundreds of species of spiders out here in the woods, but I had never seen one so close up! My Grandmother had been bitten by a Black Widow and it caused her some residual health problems. I was cautious, but curious and took a couple of pictures to help me when I looked on the internet to identify her better. I also wanted to know her message for me; since I was the only person in the house that took an interest in her. I wasn’t able to see the defining red hour-glass on her under belly, but the markings on her top were definitely close enough for me to want to know more and be sure of her message. I’ve shared the pictures I took, which are a little fuzzy, but the next day when I went back to take more, she was gone. Here is her message, which ties in very closely to that of the fox and cat, including family.

The Black Widow Spider I found near the front door of our house!

Spiders have eight legs and their body is in two sections, giving them a figure eight appearance to their bodies. This links to all the mysticism associated with the form of the figure eight and the symbol of infinity, the wheel of life, flowing from one circle to the next. Spider teaches about balance, between past and future, physical and spiritual, male and female. Spider is associated with mystics and mythology with three prominent expressions of magic. The first is the magic and energy of creations, the symbol of creative power. It is also associated with assertiveness of that creative force, of keeping the feminine energies of creation alive and strong; this has ties to the female black widow, which will kill and eat the male after mating, which has to do with death and rebirth. The third predominant magic of the spider is associated with its spiral energy, the links with the past and the future; the spiral of the web, a central point. Spiders are a combination of gentleness and strength and they have learned to combine both for successful survival, just as many “females” or those with feminine energy.

I love the synchronicity of each of these messages and also the similarities! Each speaks of feminine energy, magic and creativity in some form! I am always amazed and thrilled when I receive these kinds of messages, which come exactly when I need them and are always spot on! Each gives us something to ponder, meditate on and food for thought and ways to be creative, magical and bring out the best within us.

Shared with love,~Mysti-Fran~

Most of the information about the animal totems and animal messages came from the book, Animal-Speak” by Ted Andrews. I’ve added a little of my own thoughts and wisdom, here and there, as always. *smile*

A Season of Love Message for Monday:  Today, it’s ok to rest and take a break. I will do my best! I tell myself this a lot, but why is it so tough for some people to do that? I have a list of things I need and want to get done in a day, a week and a month, but if I don’t feel well or become tired, I need to be aware and take breaks and slow down. If we don’t pay attention to how we feel, how can we expect others to? For some, like me, a break is when I sit down at the computer or get a few things done, then sit outside to enjoy the birds, the wind, nature and just listening to my higher self, telling me that what I don’t get done today, will still be there tomorrow! *smile* Working at my own pace, getting things done, patting myself on the back for what I did get done today, not for what I didn’t!

Too often we’re harder on ourselves than others when we don’t get as much done as we’d like. Some people will get up early or stay up late to get things done, sacrificing their “recharging  time” that we all need in order to stay on top of things. Sometimes I look around and see the house a mess, laundry waiting, writing to do, trash to take out, dogs to feed and the list goes on and on. I can work myself up and feel overwhelmed or I can work at it, little by little, until it’s all finished. Then, it starts all over again, *laugh*. My attitude about it has changed over the years. I can laugh about things more easily, I don’t beat myself up (as bad) as I used to when I don’t reach a deadline (I’ve always wondered why they call it a deadline) and I just do my best. I’ve heard before, “what difference will it make one hundred years from now” if I didn’t vacuum today instead of calling my Mom, my daughters or share a laugh with one of my Grandchildren. Take time today for a break, take care of yourself and have a great week!

Blessings~Mysti-Fran
